The Quilted Feather

Professional Machine Quilting Service

Press all seams flat.

Remove any loose threads and clip thread tails.

Backing and batting need to be a least 6" longer and wider than the quilt top.  Do not baste or pin the layers together, they are mounted on the machine separately.

Make sure the backing is square.  If the backing needs to be pieced, sew the pieces together using a 1/2" seam allowance and press open.

Make sure the quilt is square.  One way to prevent the probability of wavy borders and having tucks occur during quilting is to attach the borders using the following method.  Take the average measurement of the quilt top on both edges and down the center.  This will be the length you will cut the border.  Mark the centers of the border and the quilt and pin together, easing in or out the difference.  Do the same for the other borders.

Make sure there are no pins left in your quilt.  If a needle is broken due to a pin being left in the quilt by you, there will be a replacement fee.  In addition, I cannot be held responsible for any damage to your quilt caused by the broken needle, which may include rips, holes, or runs.

Use a note to mark the top of the quilt and/or backing if you have a preference.

We all know that quilting can hide many imperfections, however, I cannot guarantee that any fullness in your top will be quilted out.  I will do my very best to blend any imperfections as much as possible.

When working with bias edges, you might want to sew a 1/8" stay stitch on all sides of your quilt top to prevent stretching.  This is a good habit to develop.

My quilting is hand-guided.  Please understand that the end product is not perfect and there will be small variations of the designs.

If you make no specific request for quilting design, batting, or thread it is great for me -- I love to be creative and use my own style.  But please keep in mind you have made the choice to accept whatever I quilt.
