The Quilted Feather began in Pocatello, Idaho in 2003. As a single, homeschooling mom to 3 teens, I was desperate to find a way to earn a living and still be available to my kids. My mother and I had been quilting off and on for the past 20 years but would get a little frustrated when it came to finishing our quilts. Neither one of us has the patience (or time) to do much hand quilting and tying quilts just didn’t have the look I wanted. I did try to quilt on my domestic machine and it was so cumbersome that I quickly decided that that was not for me. I saw my first long arm machine in a local quilt store and it was love at first sight! I decided to “go for it” and after much research and attending various quilt shows to try out machines, I decided on my Nolting Pro 24. I began quilting for customers about 6 months later. I recently moved back home to Redding, CA. My kids are now grown and I have a mom and grand children near by– so what choice did I have? :-) I have a beautiful shop in my converted garage that is smoke-free and ready for business!
